Love note to Alfonso

So I need to marry Alfonso Cuarón. His movies are so beautiful and just plain awesome. He did my favorite Harry Potter [Prisoner of Azkaban], Great Expectations is so ridic beautiful I cant even begin to talk about it and A Little Princess was like amazing and entrancing even when I first saw it at the age of 7. His lighting is beautiful his cinematographer choices amazing. He can evoke emotion in such a beautiful way and his soundtrack to Children of Men is just perfect.
I love you Alfonso.
I've been listening to music a lot this weekend. Not that I don't on a regular basis but, as Julia always says, ITUNES ALWAYS KNOWS WHATS UP. It just knows ALL so it gives you good stuff to make it all better.
Mixtape of the day: Here ya go.

Last but not least, I found this guy on youtube a while back who matches up songs with his favorite scenes in classic movies. Its pretty awesome check it out.

I wish:
- I had a french bulldog
- I had a sugar daddy
- Endless supply of brownies

- Be a little more like Jake Chessum who is commercial and but still has a fine art feel

- I had a book published
- I would stop being so lazy
- I had tacos
- I could've seen Elliott Smith and The Smiths and The Beatles in concert
- I could go on a pointless road trip like in Fanboys
- I could just sit and watch stupid romcoms all day like The Ugly Truth
Yea. I wish.
I'm gonna go back to being as Nate put it " a good little worker bee."
Yeah. Right.

It's Totally an Eliott Smith Kinda Day
For the first time since I've been here I slept till I willingly woke. I've had my blinds down all day having that beautiful blue-ish light coming in through the bottom windows that don't get shut off. Now I look outside and its dark, and for once, my room didn't make me feel anxious or sad like it normally does. It actually kind of felt like a real room.
I went outside in a skirt and t-shirt, which reminded me of being home and wearing variations of this all summer. When I hit play on my ipod Elliott Smith came on and really, it did feel like an Elliott Smith kind of day.
Julia recommended the movie Angel-a a while back and I decided what the heck it seems beautiful maybe I'll get some inspiration or something? She said it gave her hope so that was even more reason to watch it. I need hope.
It really was a beautiful movie and really, it made me want an angel to slap me around and make me see things

Mixtape for your thoughts. Mine are kinda all over he place here but, lyrically, some of it makes sense. At least to me.

" Look at your body, battered by the lack of love and trust. Don't you see it deserves a little care? Don't reject your wounded body. It's suffered in silence all this time. Tell your body how important it is, that it has its place. Give it what it deserves."
" One day, an angel came into my life. A magnificent woman who opened my eyes. And God knows, it's so good to have your eyes open."

End of the line, is it confusion?
So go, go see what's there for you
Nothing new, nothing new for you to use
I've got no new act to amuse you
I've got no desire to use you, you know
But anything that I could do
Would never be good enough for you
If you can't help it then just leave it alone
Leave it alone
Yeah, just forget it
It's really easy
I believe I'll forget it too
Still you're keeping me around
'Til I finally drag us both down
Pulling feathers out of your hat
Yes I believe that's where it's at
You belong tagging along
And I belong in your zoo
So I wait for your confirmation

boo fucking hoo
Vero stop being all cute next to me and making me want to barf at the sight of BF and GF pics.
kthnx
On the other hand, I want to thank you for showing me this little gem: thisiswhyyourefat
You know I totes would eat like half of the stuff on there. I mean half of the stuff involves BACON who can say no to BACON?!
Well, Vero, but she's like indian and stuff.
Last night I saw Nous Non Plus with Courtney and they were so energetic and fun. Their stage banter was delivered with heavy French accents and was super hilarious. Their outfits were pretty amazing: the violinist was wearing a catsuit with some weird design, the keyboardist looked like Mugatu, the drummer I couldn't see, the singer was wearing a leopard print, super long dress, the bassist was all boating-in-the-south-of-France white pants and shirt and the guitarist was wearing a flowery shirt and BELLBOTTOMS. I obviously fell in love. Can I haz you bassist?
So I'm currently trying to finish The Time Travelers Wife in between, you know, the at least 5 issues of NY Mag and EW I have to catch up with. Now, the book is good buuuut I find it a bit too girly at times but I really like it, and I mean I can't say anything when I've read Nora Roberts books out of my own free will and interest. But now it's getting to a ridiculously depressing part where I can't take it on the subway with me cause I'll start crying
HOW DEPRESSING IS THIS
ugh
So, basically, from here till like god knows when I'm going to STILL be reading TTTW and Tropic of Cancer, thus ignoring all the books I brought back from home. Lame.
List of books I have at home to read:
- Veinte Poemas de Amor y una Canción Desesperada
- The Book of Lost Things
- The Tales of Beedle and Bard
- The Stranger
- When You are Engulfed in Flames
- The History of Love
- La Invención de Morel
- Cién años de Soledad
- The Picture of Dorian Gray
On a last note,
<3

Last Week in Shows
Lykke Li
The Fray
um lets not discuss the fact that I went to this ok? Click here for Courtneys super nice take on it
Little Boots
So good! She was adorable and fun and hyper and British and extra cute. Courtney calls her Lykke Li on crack and she had a tenori! She successfuly pumped up the crowd of mostly gays and 19 yr olds that madethe dancefloor look like a highschool dance. The djs preceding her got better 4 songs before her and seriously studio b, lower your drink prices you are not in the meatpacking district or selling yummy specialty drinks. It is not ok to charge $9 for a vodka shot. Click here for pics via Brooklyn Vegan
Beirut
Oh Zach Condon how I love thee. I thought you were amazing at that show in Central Park but somehow you outdid yourself. The orchestra and the acoustics and your general cuteness made my heart melt. Your band members look like, in the words of Alia, "geeks who got cute haircuts" and if you closed your eyes you'd image someone much older singing and playing that music, but once you opened them you realize everyone on stage [minus maybe the drummer who looked like 30 from where we were sitting] seemed to be in their early to mid 20s with Zach being only 22. Sigh. Click here for pics via Brooklyn Vegan.
This week theres:
On another musical note, M.I.A., Coldplay, Radiohead, Pink, Maroon 5, Daft Punk, Hot Chip, Brazilian Girls, Kings of Leon, The Mars Volta, Mötley Crüe, Slipknot, The Raconteurs, Beck, Death Cab For Cutie, Luis Fonsi, Tommy Torres, Juanes, Voltio, Rakim y Ken-y, Wisin y Yandel,Flight of the Conchords, and Justice were either nominated or won grammys last night.
Is this just surprising to me cause I havent been in the grammy loop for like 3 years? Cause when I read this I was like WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!? This is sort of awesome? But not really? Pretty much.

Workin'
So I'm interning/working for this online publication Herald De Paris. Last night there was a Sondre Lerche concert which I thought he was headlining. WRONG. IT WAS A THE FRAY CONCERT. My ears wanted to bleed. while courtney got drunk at The Pourhouse accross the street, I had to listen to how to save a life and wonder how such an attractive band [minus the singer they are all cute, specially the drummer] suck so hard? Well never know. But on an awesome concert note LYKKE LI IS AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. I need to be her. kthnxbai.so its like fridgid outside right now? what does summer feel like? and why the hell is there no happy medium it will be spring for like 3.5 secs then HEATWAVE. ugh.
I've been playing with photoswap for the past couple of hours OMGZ hilarious/amazing. thank vero haha
